Stress Risk Assessment (individual)

In the UK, work-related stress is legally recognised as a workplace risk, with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) identifying stress as a workplace hazard.  Employers are therefore required to assess and manage the risk of stress affecting their employees under health and safety legislation.

Stress can arise from both work and home environments.  When left unaddressed, it can impact an individual’s performance and lead to outcomes such as absenteeism or presenteeism — both of which carry significant costs for employees and employers alike.

DoubleCheq offers an independent Stress Risk Assessment for individual employees aligned with HSE guidelines.  This confidential and professional service helps identify the root causes of stress and provides clear, actionable recommendations.  Employees may find it easier to discuss sensitive issues with an independent third party and, where stress is identified as work-related, employers can fulfil their duty of care by taking appropriate action.  Our aim is to support both employees and employers in working together to create a healthier, more productive work environment.

Employee-paid Assessment — £120

As an employee, stress may sometimes go unnoticed by your employer.  An independent Stress Risk Assessment can help you understand the causes and take proactive steps to manage it.

How it works:

  • You’ll have a 60-minute confidential online assessment via Zoom to discuss work-life stressors, home life, and personal challenges.
  • We’ll look at your workload, role clarity, support systems, and any stress triggers.
  • The assessment is a structured conversation that includes a questionnaire and wellbeing tools such as the HADS scale to assess and quantify any anxiety and depression.  We can discuss any issues you feel are relevant.

What you’ll receive:

  • A one-page PDF summary of your consultation with clear, actionable recommendations for reducing stress.  Suggestions may include workload adjustments, mediation, or flexible work options.
  • The summary can be shared with your employer or doctor to validate your experience and support future discussions.

Why it’s helpful:

  • Provides objective insights and personalised advice, not just a stress score.
  • Can help you reduce workplace stress and improve your well-being.
  • Offers documentation that could encourage your employer to support stress management efforts.

When to consider:

  • If you're struggling with stress, burnout, or sickness absence.
  • If you want validation of your stress and guidance on next steps.
